Haluatko julkaista runojasi armeniaksi?

Dear Poet

On April 24 of this year will be the centenary of the 20th century’s first terrible crime – the Armenian Genocide which was officially planned and implemented by the Ottoman Turkey. What was done in 1915 is certainly crime not only against the Armenians but also against the humanity. In 1915 more than 1,5 million Armenians fell victim, our historical homeland was expropriated, our churches and cultural monuments were ruined. A number of Armenian famous intelligent people fell sacrifice to the Genocide too, among them was a member of the Turkish Parliament, a popular lawyer and writer Grigor Zohrap, as well as prominent writers Daniel Varuzhan, Siamanto, Ruben Sevak and many other writers and publicists. Many world popular public figures, lawyers, writers and intelligent people – Romain Rolland, Franz Werfel, Anatole France, Fridtjof Nansen, Lepsius and others raised their voices against the Genocide. Their names have remained in the memories of Armenian people as symbol of truth.

Dear fellow-writers, intelligentsia is the human conscience, the herald of kindness and justice. We address You expecting that you will reveal Armenia and Armenians, history and present times with your highly artistic poems in a new way and so you will contribute to spreading of the elevated ideas of humanism, justice and liberty. We are waiting for your poems. We plan to publish an exclusive anthology in English and Armenian which will include poems written in such a spirit. The book will be a poetical great epistle to the present and future generations. Our sole aim is the mankind to live in a peaceful and bloodless world and to be led by the beauty and kindness.

Love,
Hrant Alexanyan.
